Here's your chance to experiment with a whole range of watercolour techniques! You'll learn how to paint skies and clouds, a sandy beach and a beautiful wave. A lovely summery project for beginners and intermediates alike.

Part 1: Presentation of the material and preparation of the project
To begin, Marie-Hélène will present all the materials needed for the project. She will then guide you through the preparation of your subject using liquid frisket.
Part 2: Practical exercise
Before starting your main project, you'll practise creating washes and gradients. You'll also explore the effects of wet-on-wet application.
Part 3: Project implementation
With the help of step-by-step instructions, you'll then apply the techniques you've learned to your own seascape.
List of materials to bring:
✓ A set of watercolours (as a guide, the colours used for the project are: Phtalo Blue, Emerald Green, Payne's Grey, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber).
✓ Three synthetic or natural bristle brushes, round and of different sizes (one large for washes, one medium and one small for details)
✓ Two sheets of watercolour paper (9 x 12 in., 140 lb., cold-pressed)
✓ Liquid frisket in a jar or pencil
✓ A roll of masking tape
✓ Graphite pencil and eraser
✓ An absorbent cloth
✓ Two jars of water
