How to make origami shadowbox art

Step 1: Fold a number of 3-dimensional origami shapes using different colours and sizes of paper. Click here for instructions on folding the bipyramid gem shape used in this project.

Step 2: Arrange the shapes on a piece of toned matboard that has been cut to the size of your frame. Once arranged to your liking, apply a small amount of white glue to the back of the origami shapes with a paintbrush and glue them to the board. Be careful not to crush the shapes by pressing too firmly. Leave the arrangement flat to dry.

Step 3: Mount the origami arrangement in a shadow box frame and display it proudly.

Tips:

Be sure to select a shadow box frame that is deep enough to accommodate your origami shapes or remove the glass
Wash your paintbrush thoroughly with soap and water after applying the glue
