Top 3 Picks: DIY Holiday Gift Guide

Looking for a thoughtful gift idea for your friend who loves all-things DIY? Our ultimate holiday gift guide includes our top 3 favourite DIY gifts—you can create them alone, with your little one, or even with your best friend. Everyone will love!

1) For the candle lover

With the child-friendly Professional Studio Candles Kit, you and your little one can make and decorate different natural candles in many trendy shapes, using cotton wicks and soy wax. This kit includes a special container with a safe lid to melt the soy, as well as many unique accessories. We’ll show you how to make your very own candles in the next steps!

Step 1: Start by adding the soy wax directly into the special container, removing the safe lid first. If you want to achieve a colourful candle, just add a bit of crayon pieces.

Step 2: Heat the wax in the microwave for two minutes and mix well with the included spatula.

Step 3: Prepare the transparent mould and add the cotton wick.

Step 4: Pour the melted wax inside the mould and let it set for 12 hours.

Step 5: The next day, remove the candles carefully and show your beautiful pieces to your friends!

2) Embrace the art of imperfection

Did you know that you can repair broken, chipped, or cracked pottery with Kintsugi? This beautiful traditional Japanese technique will inspire you to embrace the art of imperfection—just by using gold lacquer. With the DIY Kintsugi Kit, you’ll have everything you need to make your unique creation!

Step 1: Start by breaking the ceramic piece included in the Kintsugi Kit, using a dry cloth and a hammer.

Step 2: To make sure you don’t miss any pieces, attach them using masking tape or Scotch tape.

Step 3: Before you touch the powder and the epoxy glue, be sure to protect your hands by wearing gloves. Mix the glue and powder, adding equal quantities and mixing well with a stick.

Step 4: Apply a good amount of the glue mix directly into the cracks and press them together for a few minutes. Let the glue dry to touch.

Step 5: Finish off the process by applying the gold powder on top of the glue with a paintbrush. Let it set for 12 hours, and then voilà. Enjoy your new repaired ceramic piece!

3) Get your hands dirty

Unleash your inner potter and easily create beautiful pieces you'll be proud of! With our DIY Pottery Kit, you’ll have all the necessary tools to start your creative journey, including a premium air-dry clay to practise beautiful hand-built pieces. Here’s how to create a beautiful ring plate in just a few steps.

Step 1: Unpack your air-dry clay and start wedging it until you form a ball.

Step 2: With a wooden rolling pin, roll the clay until it is ½ inch thick. Remove any imperfections and fingerprints by smoothing the top of the clay with the rib tool.

Step 3: Print your favourite design and cut the shape with the needle tool.

Step 4: Use a sponge and your fingers to remove the extra clay after you cut and work on the edges.

Step 5: Leave the plate to dry in a mould for 24 hours until the clay is hard.
