Learn how to create three classic types of playful characters: cute, villain and silly. Throughout this workshop, you’ll explore how to visualise your drawing from a 3D perspective, so that you can achieve better results with your characters.
Once you’ve learned the basic structures, Richard will show you how to use them when creating your playful, imaginary characters. He’ll take you through all the steps so you can draw like a pro. Grab your pencils and get ready to create your own imaginary world!
For the full creative experience, we recommend also participating in Richard Cameron Morneau’s follow-up workshop: Facial Expressions for Playful Characters.
Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 9 to 99.
*This workshop is recorded (you will receive the video link 48 to 72 hours after the workshop)
Part 1: Character structures
To begin, Richard will briefly introduce himself. He will then present the three types of characters: cute, villain and silly. He’ll provide explanations and guide you through a series of drawing exercises to create the basic structures of each type, while also exploring loose, humanoid structures to further transform your characters.
Part 2: Character creation
In Part 2, you’ll create your different cute, villain and silly characters. You’ll also learn how to create certain animal characteristics so that you can then use them in your character drawings.
