This workshop will teach you watercolour techniques for making coloured lanterns: This colourful workshop will teach you how to manage contrast and light. On the program: demonstration and explanation of the type of equipment used and how to use it. You'll learn how to make beautiful, brightly-coloured lanterns. A project accessible to all will also be created during the workshop. Step by step, artist Maud Besson will show you all her techniques!

Open to beginners and intermediates.
Ages 12 to 99.

Part 1: Overview and demonstration of the material

Maud will show you the type of materials to use during the workshop, including the types of paper, pencils, watercolours and brushes to use.
 

Part 2: Realizing the project

Maud will show and explain her techniques for creating watercolour lanterns. Discover or rediscover several drawing and watercolour techniques while learning simple, practical tools. Everything will be shown step by step and a project accessible to all will be created during the workshop.

List of materials to bring:

✓ DeSerres HB or H graphite pencils
✓ Staedtler eraser
✓ Medium watercolour brush n.12 and a finer brush n.2 + a very fine brush
✓ Watercolour paint - Set of approximately 10-12 colours minimum in cups or tubes.
✓ Watercolour paper tablet 9x12" (paper thickness ideally 300 gr.)
✓ A palette with cells for mixing colours
✓ Masonite board 11x14" approximately to stretch your leaves
✓ Low-adhesion green masking tape for stretching your leaves
✓ 2 jars of water
✓ Paper towel and cloth
✓ Hair dryer
✓ Watercolour paper to test colours before applying them
