How to apply a resin finish to a pour painting

Step 1: Create a pour painting in style of your choice. Let it dry completely before continuing to the next step. Click here to go to the cell effect technique.

Step 2: Give your pour painting a little something extra, by adding touches of gold leaf.

Step 3: Mix the ArtResin according to the instructions. Pour it over the canvas and spread it to the edges with a painting knife. Resin is self-leveling and will even out as it settles.

Step 4: Before the resin hardens, sprinkle some fine or coarse glitter on top of your painting. It will become trapped in the resin layer but stay slightly elevated from the canvas surface, creating depth. Let dry overnight in a level, dust-free area.

Tips

ArtResin has an open time of 45 minutes.
Read the ArtResin instructions completely before beginning.
If you find that the silicone has left some oil on the surface of your painting you will want to remove it before applying the resin. Oily spots may repel the resin causing an uneven finish. Wash the surface of the dry painting gently with dish soap, absorb the oil residue with talc powder or wipe the painting down with rubbing alcohol before applying the resin. You can also apply a layer of acrylic varnish before pouring the resin.
