How to use Ecoline inks on Strathmore cards

Ecoline watercolour inks feature concentrated vibrant colours that are thin enough to use like an ink but function much in the same way that a traditional watercolour does. The colours can be mixed to create an infinite spectrum of hues.

Strathmore creative cards, mixed media cards and stamping cards are perfect canvases for Ecoline watercolour inks.

With a water reservoir brush:

Use an eyedropper to fill a water reservoir brush pen with the colour of your choice. Dilute your ink with water to create a paler hue or mix your colours directly in the reservoir. Water brushes are a convenient tool for adding custom colours to your palette or panting on the go. The individual nylon bristles give a similar effect to that of a traditional brush and the reservoir provides a continuous flow of ink.

With a dip pen:

Simply dip your nib into the pot, removing excess ink by brushing the underside against the lip of the opening. This type of ink is also perfectly suited to creating custom lettering and fonts with a watercolour effect. Dip your nib in clean water to change the shade of the ink and create varied tone.

Decorate your cards:

Experiment with traditional paintbrushes, dip pens, and water reservoir brushes within the same card. You’ll be surprised by the variety of effects that can be achieved.
